China - FCR : Promoting high quality joint development
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday called for joint efforts by all parties to promote the high-quality development of "Belt and Road".
Xi made the remarks at the leaders' roundtable of the second Belt and Road Forum (FCR) for international cooperation in Beijing. Based on the principle of extensive consultations, joint contributions and shared benefits, participants in the "Belt and Road" initiative have given a new impetus to global economic growth and opened a new space for global development since the first time. Xi called on all parties to jointly promote intensive and meticulous implementation, to advance the joint building of "Belt and Road" and to bring greater benefits to people of all countries.
He highlighted the joint work of all parties to identify priorities for cooperation and focus on improving overall connectivity.
Xi also highlighted joint efforts to strengthen cooperation mechanisms and build a partnership on connectivity, calling for the full participation of more countries and common interest.
Leaders from 40 countries and international organizations participated in the roundtable. They had a full and in-depth exchange of views, and reached an important consensus on a wide range of topics, including promoting connectivity, strengthening policy alignment, building closer partnerships, promoting ecological and sustainable development and the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
During the talks, foreign participants said that advancing the joint construction of "Belt and Road" was one of the largest initiatives for economic cooperation in the world today. They also expressed willingness to align each country's development strategies with this initiative.
A joint communiqué was adopted during the closing session of the round table and a list of results of the forum was also published at the end of the meeting.
During the day, Mr. Xi took a "family photo" with foreign leaders and heads of international organizations. Vice Premier Han Zheng also attended the round table.
