Djibouti - China : Signature of an agreement concerning the old port of Djibouti
The Head of State, Mr. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, presided in Beijing, China, the signing ceremony of the project to transform the former port of Djibouti into a business district.
The signing of this agreement brought together on both sides the president of the authority of the ports and free zones of Djibouti, Mr. Aboubaker Omar Hadi, and several Chinese investors representing groups like China Merchant Port, China Merchant Shekou Holding, and Great Hall Investment Holding. This project will eventually include a marina of 43,876 m², leisure facilities, a cruise terminal covering 27,204 m², 206,836 m² for the sale of details and more than 48,753 m² of hotel and conference rooms.
The project also includes 500,811 m² of residential properties, 14,355 m² of cultural and civic buildings, 254,992 m² of offices, 167,575 m² of hotels and more than 29,976 m² of public car parks.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and his colleague from the Economy and Finance, Mr. Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, attended the signing ceremony.

The head of state met with the CEO of POLY GCL Petroleum Group Holdings on the progress of the gas project for the creation of a pipeline between Djibouti and Ethiopia.
President Guelleh also met with the CEOs of China Civil Enginerring Construction Corporation (CCECC) and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), both of whom are involved in major development projects in Djibouti. and throughout the region.
