Djibouti - Diplomacy: Foreign Ministers of Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea arrive in Djibouti
A high-level delegation composed of Mr. Workeneh Gebeyehu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr. Ahmed lsse Awad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Osman Saleh Mohamed, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea and Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Special Advisor to the President of the State of Eritrea, arrived Wednesday, September 5, 2028, in Djibouti, for a working visit. The members of this delegation were greeted on arrival at Ambouli International Airport by Djiboutian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. (Source ADI)
This important visit is the result of a collective effort by the countries of the region and represents a valuable initiative of rapprochement between these countries as well as an important step towards the strengthening of peace and stability in the region while contributing to the economic integration of the Horn of Africa.
The Djiboutian head of diplomacy and his Eritrean, Somali and Ethiopian counterparts then had a working meeting in the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The objective of the tripartite meeting: the return of peace to the region, which has long been plagued by insecurity, conflicts and ideological differences.
At the end of this important meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea and the Special Adviser to the President of Eritrea were received in audience by President Ismail Omar Guelleh.
In a statement to the press, Djibouti's Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said, "The historic visit of his Eritrean counterpart to our country is the beginning of peace and healing between Eritrea. and Djibouti ".
"Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea have agreed to work together to restore peace and stability in the region. The Horn of Africa can truly focus now on development and integration" said Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.
