Economy: Ethiopia, new factory of the world

In a huge hangar in the heart of the Hawassa industrial park, 270 km south of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, dozens of Ethiopian workers are busy near spinning machines and coloring thread belonging to Chinese factory JP Textile. Its trained and now operational workforce is already transforming "imported from China" into fabric so that it will then take the form of shirts made in Ethiopia, which will bear brands such as Calvin Klein or Tommy Hilfiger, and be exported to Europe and the United States to the attention of wealthy customers. African Union - European Union: The African hope to win the jackpot in New York

The European External Investment Plan (PEI) (a key element of Europe's effort to unlock the resources needed to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development goals) will be presented at the event "The Plan European Investment Fund (PEI) - Unlocking € 44 billion in support of global objectives ", to be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 20 September 2017. Arab League : 148th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Arab League member countries in Cairo

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, chaired the 148th ordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Arab League countries yesterday Tuesday, 12 September 2017 in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting was attended by Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit and included a number of issues related to the Palestinian cause, the situation in Syria, Libya and Yemen , and the occupation by Iran of the three emirate islets (Abu Musa, Grande Tombe and Petite Tombe). Other topics discussed include Iran's interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, the adoption of a unified position against the violation of the sovereignty of Iraq by the Turkish forces, support for peace and development in the Sudan, Somalia and the Republic of Comoros, as well as the means of achieving a peaceful resolution of the dispute between Djibouti and Eritrea and the support of refugees in the Arab countries. Somalia – Terrorism : Djibouti condemns the blind terrorism of the Shebabs

The Republic of Djibouti strongly condemned the suicide attack perpetrated on 11 September 2017 by the Shebab terrorists in Beledweyne, central Somalia, which claimed the lives of at least 4 people and wounded more of 13 others. According to a statement issued on 12 September 2017 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "such criminal attacks against innocent victims can not be justified, and those responsible must be brought to justice." Djibouti – Government : 16th Meeting of the Council of Ministers

The Head of State, His Excellency Ismail Omar Guelleh, presided over the work of the 16th Session of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, 12 September 2017, during which the Djibouti Executive examined several texts including a draft law on ratification of the Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. The purpose of this bill is to ratify the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its two Protocols. We reproduce in its entirety the official communique, as published by the ADI (Djibouti Information Agency).

SOMALIA – EU : EU naval force seeks to boost maritime security in Somalia

Staff of the EU Naval Force helped to form the Maritime Police Unit of Somalia in Mogadishu in order to help strengthen the maritime security of the Horn of Africa in order to prevent piracy along the coast. The EU Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP) said on Monday 11 September 2017 in Mogadishu that the vital training it is organizing will help improve local capacity to maintain maritime security. Djibouti Embassy - Addis Ababa: Chancery work construction is progressing fast.

Launched three months ago in Addis Ababa, the construction work of the new premises which will host the Chancellery of the Djiboutian Embassy in Ethiopia, is progressing considerably. Indeed, the entire "foundation" part of the structure is already carried out within the deadlines of the contract. When we know the foundation's regulations and its importance, it is easy to imagine the value of the work done. The construction of the new embassy was entrusted to the Italian company " MAFER CONSTRUCTION ", which had been selected at the end of the invitations to tender. It is very active and will normally have to be completed within the next eight months. This architecturally flawless complex will be on several levels and will include, besides the Chancery and its administrative offices, the Consulate of Djibouti in Addis Ababa.
