Djibouti - Government: 13th Meeting of the Council of Ministers

The Head of State and Head of Government, Mr. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, chaired on Thursday 25 May 2017 the 13th meeting of the Council of Ministers. During the meeting, several texts were examined and approved, including a major Bill to establish a Djibouti Tobacco Board and set out its terms of reference. Djibouti - Government : 12th Meeting of the Council of Ministers

The Head of State, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, chaired Tuesday, May 16, 2017, the work of the 12th Session of the Council of Ministers during which the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training Mr. Moustapha Mohamed Mahamoud, made a communication on technical and vocational training. The Minister recalled at the outset that our system of Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) is based on the priorities and commitments of the Government in accordance with the roadmap of the Head of State, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh; And contains a program which aims to reduce the digital divide. Kigali - Sommet Transform Africa : Speech of president Ismaïl Omar Guelleh

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Ismail Omar Guelleh, participated in the "Transform Africa Summit" held from 12 to 13 May 2017 in the Rwandan capital, Kigali. The summit, which was launched in late October 2013 in Rwanda, is the leading African forum bringing together regional and global organizations, government leaders, business and international organizations. This event will provide an opportunity to reflect on how best to support and accelerate the ongoing African digital revolution for member states to develop more competitive, open and innovative smart economies, facilitating a more favorable business environment. In the course of this summit, President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh made a very remarkable speech which we have the honor to reproduce in its entirety on this page.

Djibouti - Government : 11th Meeting of the Council of Ministers

Head of State, Ismail Omar Guelleh, chaired on Tuesday 9 May 2017, the work of the 11th meeting of the Council of Ministers, during which the Minister of Communication, in charge of Posts and Telecommunications, Mr. Abdi Youssouf Sougueh, made a communication on the Smart Africa project. This project is a program that aims to bridge the digital divide between the countries of sub-Saharan Africa and aims to connect the entire African continent through Information and Communication Technologies. COMMUNIQUE

HE Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received today, Saturday, May 6, 2017 His Excellency Mr. Shunsuke Takei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is paying a working visit to Republic of Djibouti. The latter was accompanied by the Ambassador of Japan to Djibouti HE Mr. Tatsuo Arai. HE Mr. Ahmed Araita Ali, Ambassador of Djibouti to Japan, Mr. Yacin Houssein Doualé, Director of Bilateral Relations, Mr. Moussa Mohamed Omar, Director of Communication also took part in the meeting.

Djibouti - Government: 10th Meeting of the Council of Ministers

The Head of State, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, presided over the work of the 10th session of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, during which the Djiboutian executive debated at length the aggressions in the north of the country perpetrated by Armed elements. These attacks on people and goods are meant to destabilize the region which is experiencing an economic boom due to the coming on stream of port and road infrastructure and sabotaging the economic development of our country. In the face of these attempts at destabilization and insecurity, the government will take all necessary measures to eliminate the threat and prosecute the perpetrators in order to bring them to justice for their misdeeds. Djibouti - Rwanda: End of President Paul Kagame's official visit to Djibouti

After a two-day official visit to the Republic of Djibouti, Rwandan President Paul Kagame left the capital of Djibouti in the afternoon of Wednesday, April 19, 2017, to Kigali. During the visit, President Paul Kagame was accompanied by the First Lady of Rwanda and a large delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Minister for Trade, Industry and The East African Community, the Minister of Infrastructure, the Minister of Youth and Information and Communication Technology, the Secretary General of the National Intelligence and Security Service, the Ambassador From Rwanda to Djibouti with residence in Addis Ababa and other senior Rwandan officials.

Djibouti - Rwanda: Paul Kagame in the National Assembly

One of the highlights of the historic visit of the Rwandan president to Djibouti was undoubtedly the visit to the National Assembly on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, and the important speech before the elected representatives of the Djibouti nation. Hosted by the President of the National Assembly, Mohamed Ali Houmed, the President of Rwanda, Mr. Paul Kagamé, met in the first session of the Assembly and held a one-on-one meeting with the President of the Chamber Before being invited to participate in a special session of parliament dedicated to this visit.  Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, members of the government and representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps attended the session, during which the speaker of the Djibouti parliament delivered a particularly inspiring welcome speech.

Guelleh - Kagame: The importance of making the interests of the two countries prevail

During a press conference following the signing ceremony of a series of bilateral agreements, Presidents Ismaïl Omar Guelleh and Paul Kagamé reaffirmed to the journalists "the solidity and depth of the relations of friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Djibouti and Rwanda ". The two presidents also reiterated the importance of making the interests of the two countries prevail in a number of strategic areas in order to be better equipped to cope with the different challenges that the two countries will face.
