Somalia - Climate dryness : UN calls for urgent resources to avert humanitarian crisis

The United Nations asked Monday, May 21, 2019, the mobilization of urgent and sustainable resources to avoid a major humanitarian crisis caused by a severe drought in Somalia. George Conway, Acting Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), said that "the drought situation in Somalia has deteriorated rapidly and intensified much earlier than in the past. Somalia is at a critical juncture, but with sufficient resources, we can reactivate the structures that managed to avert famine in 2017 ". African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights : Sensitizes Djiboutian journalists

The African Court of Human and Peoples Rights organized Monday, May 20, at the Hotel Le Laurier, a training workshop on its mandate, structures and skills. The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission, Djibril Osman Houffaneh, and a panel of local media reporters. A delegation, composed of several judges and lawyers as well as the staff of the General Secretariat of the African Court of Human and Peoples' Rights, is paying an official visit to Djibouti from 21 to 24 May 2019. Djibouti -Business: Visit of a delegation of the Chinese Development Bank

The President of the Authority of Ports and Free Zones of Djibouti (APZFD) Aboubaker Omar Hadi, received yesterday morning, in the meeting room of the former free zone, located along the road to Venice, a delegation of the China Development Bank led by the representative of the local China Merchant Group office, Leo Li. This meeting focused on the validation of the financing of the first phase of 240 hectares of the international free zone of Djibouti (DIFTZ), inaugurated by the President of the Republic, in July 2018.
